Xanax

Does anyone take xanex on a regular basis. I have been taking xanex 1/2 of a .25 mg tablet at least once a day , sometimes twice and lately feel like I need it a third time. Will this hurt me long term? My doctor says its ok.
Also, if it is prescribed for 1 pill every 8 hours - can I take 1/2 of pill - 4 hours apart.

Why not try another med if yours neeRAB tinkering? I found that Ativan(Lorazapam)
did wonders for me for my anxiety.Family Drs.can also prescribe this controlled drug.Our local crisis center uses this Ativan, I/V wise, for emergency new patients.Thats good enough for me.I haven't needed Ativan for several years,but got a current prescription,just in case,(from my family doc.) good luck...Bill
 
Thank you so much. I am like you - I do not want the panic to return. Right now I find that I really need the 1/2 of the .25 in the morning and yesterday that was all I needed. But at least now - I do not feel afraid to take another half within 3 or 4 hours if I need to.

Thank you so much. I am going to see a psychologist tomorrow and will be seeing my doctor today so I will ask him about the maintenance dose.

Do you take any other meRAB besides the xanex?

I also have a prescription to Xanax, but I also take it with Prozac. I take Prozac (20 mg) once per day and then I take the Xanas as needed. My doctor informed me that I can try cutting the Xanax in half even. I have been trying to only take it when I really need it since I've heard it can be addictive. I'd try cutting in half and taking it more often, as that may really help! My Prozac has helped most of my anxiety and I only need Xanas on really panicky/anxious days.
