X Men Origins:Wolverine

Hang on. So Victor and Sabretooth are the same character? I've seen all the fims, none of the comics, and apart from thinking that there were similarities between the two characters, I totally didn't get that. They look totally different, and there's never any obvious spark of recognition in the X-Men films*. Presumably it's one of those 'You'll get it if you get it, but if you don't, it won't make any difference.' The Harry Potter films always make the mistake of including important plot pints that only make sense if you've read the books.

EDIT - (occured to me after posting) *On that point, is there any sense of how long has elapsed between Wolverine and X1? I get that Logan's lost his memories, but presumably there was no contact between Victor and Logan in the intervening years. Seems kinda odd if Victor's intent on killing him.
 
I thought the same thing also. Ryan ReynolRAB role was the stand out part of the film for me, just not enough screen time. Also, the guy that played Weapon XI at the end looks freakily like Ryan ReynolRAB (Scott Adkins - i guess that's why they cast him though). Here's hoping for some truth in the Wade Wilson/Deadpool movie rumours. Also, since when did Deadpool have all those powers?! Teleportation is hinted at in some comics, but never Cyclops ability. I think that hints at the clone theory too.

All in all though, a good popcorn movie with some under used characters - Gambit and Wade Wilson.
 
Saw this last night - severely disappointed! Nowhere near as good as i hoped it might have been. It was alright/nothing special bordering on rubbish, cant quite make my mind up.

Sabretooth was the best character in the film, only because we got decent screentime with him. He brought the tension and atmosphere to the movie but when he was gone there was none. Gambit was cool, so was Wade aka Deadpool but they were seen and gone in 5 mins, a complete waste! Far, far too many characters.

The best scene in the film was the opening credits sequence - very well done and made the film look mean and gritty, shame about the rest of the film. Too many plot holes to mention but the special effects were the worst i've ever seen for blockbuster movie of this size! As a previous poster commented they were just cheap looking
and Patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier cameo WTF? - worst CGI moment ever!!!

I did find myself laughing when i saw Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas and Charlie from Lost on the screen. Black Eyed Peas and Lost, c'mon! :D
 
I know what you mean, but thinking about (haven't watched X2 for a while so could be wrong)
Stryker saying he thought Logan was one of a kind, could just mean the type of mutant he is rather than being the only mutant. So Stryker could easily have known about other mutants.
 
2 i think, but i've heard a rumour about one
which shows Ryan Reynold's Deadpool discovering Weapon XI's body, suggesting that Weapon XI was just a clone of Deadpool.

Not sure if that one actually exists or if it's BS though.
 
i still need to see this, its done well in America so hopefully we will se a Xmen Origines : storm version as her story will be great,
 
Probably about 10 years, judging on Cycplos being about 15/16ish in this film, and mid-late 20s in X1.

And about the relationship between Wolverine and Sabretooth, its heavily implied in Wolverine:Origin (the comic) that they are brothers. But the actual story is a lot more complex than that.
 
Wolverine takes place in 1979 (hence the link to 3 Mile Island at the end) - that's at least 21 years before X-Men (which is in the 'near future' in 2000).I guess he moisturises. ;)

At best, Cylcops would be 14 in Origins, and mid 30s in X-men. It's still a bit of a stretch.
 
Because when the made X1 I doubt there was any plan whatsoever to have them be brothers. Sabretooth was just Magneto's thug.

I guess there's really nothing in X1 to suggest the two don't have a history, just that there is nothing to strongly indicate they do either.

That's the problem with prequels, there's always a certain amount of plotholing to overlook and most often the filmmakers leave it to the viewers to fill in the gaps.
 
I seen it last night and really enjoyed it.

I love Xmen so I probably liked it more because of what it was.

There's always going to be plot holes in films like this, but because "powers" can go anywhere they're easier to fill.

It further shows me how much Heroes is simply an Xmen series.
 
Sabretooth has been around in the comic books since 1977 - he was originally intended to be Wolverine's father but they've had "history" for years - they're story is very confusing it depenRAB on what comics you read
 
Yeah I'm a big fan of the comics, read them as a kid. Like all long running comics the characters back stories have been ret-conned so many times. But i'm talking solely about the film X1. When a movie is made they have to go for the simplest idea. so like I said, I doubt when they made X1 they planned to have any connection (brother, father...) between Logan and Wolverine.
 
I've just watched Xmen (1) again and it's easy to see a few plot holes in Wolverine...and the fact that Hugh Jackman is bulkier and has more wrinkles :p

But, there's no point in analysing Xmen. It's not the type of series which requires any in depth discussion... unless you're a bit sad :p
