X-Men 3

Watched the movie late last night and I have to say that it was definitely good enough to keep me awake; even through the exceptionally long credits for a 5-second twist/revelation at the end.

I just thought that the film just tried to pack too much into the 2 hours. Where the first 2 introduced characters and then spent the time explaining bits about them, this movie just rushed through.

I cant say that the action scenes weren't great, especially with jean grey, but i dont think it does justice for the other 2 movies...

bring on Xmen 4 and bring back Brian Singer...

obviously Professor X is still live and kicking (excuse the pun), but with the ending with magneto does it mean that the cure doesnt work with the powerful mutants ie. mystique and rogue?

Yeah I suppose, but we can't really say he's being introduced in the third film if he was in the second. I was just trying to find a second X-Men that made their first appearance in the film.

Shadowcat makes a big appearance in this one, but her character has been in all three, along with Jubilee.

There are some X-Men that make their first appearance in the new film, such as Psylocke and Multiple Man, but they seem to be on the Brotherhood's side for the time being.

Well, a nip and tuck would take care of the wrinkliness - altho I can't see Famke Janssen ever doing that. From the interviews I've seen with her, she doesn't seem that bothered by how she looks (or even that aware that she's gorgeous).

But agree that X4 (if there is one) would probably have to follow up with the next gen of X-Men - i.e. Iceman, Shadowcat, Rogue, Angel (maybe - altho did anyone think she looked a bit pudgy in X3?) plus a few other young, good looking characters. Not sure if Angel would be in it much - I assume that the wings cost a fortune to animate in CGI!

Halle Berry said she is in talks for "X-Men 3", but it's not sorted yet:

"Storm has been a little shortchanged," Berry says. "If we go back and do one more, which we're all in talks of doing, it will be paramount that Storm rise up and be the true warrior and woman that she is in the comic book, which was why I got involved in the first place."

However Storm would be very easy to recast so I wouldnt worry!

So it looks like Colossus could have a bigger part than in X Men 2!

IMDB figure for the budget? The official budget figure is $165 for the film, not sure about Prints and Advertising. But by the end of its theatrical worldwide run, it should be well into profit.

I'd take those spoilers with a hefty grain of salt, mate.
Although Famke is on the cast-list for X3, so it seems likely Phoenix will be in it to some degree.

Actually, apologies to you as it turns out it's only a single disc in the "collectors edition" (I've not seen the extras yet and was convinced that it had 2 discs).

Very strange to have a collector's edition that doesn't add much to the single release.

It is in a very pretty box, though !.

Sorry again, your info was 100% mine was dodgy (I'll learn to actually look at my DVD's in future !!)

Offical budget was $150 mil. It ended up costing $165 mil in total. It has made $198 mil worldwide in its first four days - the fifth fastest grossing movie ever.

I liked it. I thought it was stronger than X-Men, but maybe not quite as strong as X2. I had no problems with any of the deaths, and thought Phoenix was handled very well. The continuity on the bridge bugged me (the sun setting in all of 5 seconRAB), but otherwise a worthy finale to the trilogy.

I thought James Marsden must be coming back for X3 as Cyclops is a key part in the Dark Phoenix saga however some stories have him not coming back to play Cyclops and while others stories have him insisting that he will return. So we will have to wait and see what happens with Cyclops!

Magneto screenwriter Sheldon Turner has stated in a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly about the Magneto spin off film:

Turner's intent for the film is to examine Magneto's "psychological roots". The plot will also deal with the character's frienRABhip turned sour with Charles Xavier. The man who went on to form the team known as the X-Men.

"It's going to take place from 1939 Auschwitz up to 1955 or so," says Turner. With that in mind, that would make the film, MAGNETO a 'period prequel' to the X-MEN movies.

Since a major bulk (if not all) of the film will take place during this period, it is doubtful that actor Sir Ian McKellen will return for the film, though there are still possible ways of having the actor in portions of the film. The film will chronicle the character's early life, and what turned him against humans.

Oh, I plan on getting both the normal and the extended DVD regardless of costs! That is, unless they come out together. I bought X-Men on video (then DVD), then X-Men 1.5. I then got X2 2 disc edition but not the 1 disc. They planned an X-Men 2.5, but I don't know what happened.

I love added material, but this film just looked like they took half it out specifically for an extended cut. A lot of films still stand well initially before they get extended, but X3 suffered as it really did look like they hacked at it with scissors.

Saying that, I did like it a lot. It just means any extended edition can only be better!
