X-Men 3

I am sure I read that was a worldwide release date as tenRAB to be with the majority of big superhero films like X Men and Spiderman!

I completely agree with the above poster. The first movie was primarily an introduction, the second, an elaboration and establishing piece, and the third too lacking of focus on any of the main characters to conclude the story.

Granted, the Magneto and Wolverine spin off movies will go a long way to further explain the characters, but if future X-Men movies are just confined to those two, then the whole essence of the X-Men is betrayed. Okay, Logan and Magneto are two of the most important and popular characters, and it's great they're getting films dedicated to them, but there's still a lot of steam left in the franchise in terms of the ensemble element.

Also, there's plenty they can do with the huge stockpile of potential characters either merely hinted at so far, or not introduced yet. Also, there's a ton of potential storylines they could introduce to further the existence of characters already introduced. Rogue for example was a criminally underused character in the second and third movie, and although her movie character remains loyal to the early life of the comic character, there's definately room to expand on her powers as with the comic book. It's not as though such an expansion would be ridiculous. They've done it with Jean and her "evolution" into the Phoenix in the third film, and although the reasons behind this were altered a little to reduce the complications going by the comic book storyline would bring into the movie's universe, it was still a big thing to work into the films. They could easily bring in Rogue's powers of absorbtion into future films.

I think the character of Mystique could also be expanded on in future films. We know from the end of the movie that the "cure" is potentially short lived, so Mystique (as with Rogue) could easily "recover" their powers again. And, after Magneto's abandonment of her in the third film, Mystique could be brought in as a much more complicated character, more of a rogue agent which would be great for bringing in multiple banRAB of villains into future films.

However, I think certain characters have had their stay now. Cyclops was a pretty watered down version of his comic book self in the movies, and his relationship with Jean was really the only thing that merited his stay into the third. Also, with Storm and Wolverine now so high up in the ranks of the X-Men team with Storm effectively taking command of Xavier's School, the potential leader Cyclops could have been made into is a useless idea.

As with the new characters in the movies (or at least the ones brought into focus more in the third) i think there's room to re-establish a strong, central X-Men unit. Iceman's fairly big role in the second one comfortably brought him into a major role in the third, and I think he'll settle in well as a major character in the future. The same goes for Kitty Pryde. I think her powers and how they were used in the third movie's battle scenes show us the character can be brought into the more action packed threaRAB of the movie. Saying that, I wasn't keen on the actress who played her in the third movie, and although she's nineteen years of age in real life, she looks far too young. They should have settled with an actress closer to Rogue's age, or at least a taller one, lol! I wasn't too keen on Colossus in the third one. Mainly because for such a quiet character, he was used in such a big role. Nothing against near-mute individuals in the ensemble, but with so few key X-Men left, I think there should have been a more vocal, involved character around. (Possibly Emma Frost, or someone like that, that could be brought into storyline easily?)

I liked Beast in the third one. He worked really well, and the character settled in very easily into the already established group. Perhaps with him being so memorable from the comics and cartoon, the audience just accepted him with little fuss, but I think he was extremely well cast, and visually he seemed to work.

Not too keen on Angel though, lol. I just don't see him working alongside the others well (visually).

I think those posters look terrible to be honest. I like to think that Xmen is more than your avergage superhero movie, but these posters just make it look like an even cheaper version of Fantastic Four.

Halle has already said that she'd drop her knickers (or perhaps what she was doing) to get on board the next incarnation of the X franchise.

Bring it on!

I've just seen it and I really enjoyed it, I can't really compare it to X1 and X2, as I enjoyed them all equally on first viewing.

I missed the end part after the credits, as did everyone else in the cinema :( .

It would be great if there were to be an X4 that Jean could be brought back again, but it would just be silly if they make up another excuse to bring her vack from the dead, although if they do bring her back, I guess they could say she's an indestructible mutant or whatever lol.

FOX wont do an X-Men film without Wolverine and I dont know is Hugh would come back. He has tons of work lined up.

I think all the actors would come back and I think Ratner would aswell. If he has lots of prep time it could be a great film but it has to be bigger and better than X4.

Appartently Variety are reporting that Famke Janssen has signed a deal to reprise her role as Jean Gray/Dark Phoenix, joining Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Ian McKellen (Magneto) and Halle Berry (Storm) who are all expected to appear in the movie X Men 3.

There are also rumours that there will be a 3rd spin off X Men film to go along with Magento and Wolverine but it hasnt been announced who it will be!

Yeah I am not getting my hopes up for X Men 3 soon but I would like to see it on the big screen in the next few years.
X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner has said recently that she is looking forward to continuing with the X-Men franchise and that X-3 will continue with the Dark Phoenix saga. After X-3 there may be a Wolverine movie.
It does look like they will continue with the Dark Phoenix saga if X Men 3 does happen which will please the comic book fans as this is what we want to see!

Phoenix has always been my fave character - since the original Phoenix/Dark Phoenix saga in the comics. But I really doubt that they would bring her back in the movie. I mean, bringing her back once worked in the story. But I think bringing her back for a second time just wouldn't work well.

Shame - as Famke Janssen has always been one of my favourite actresses too (just got Nip/Tuck season 3 on DVD and she makes a minor guest appearance there too).

Halle Berry seems to be such an idiot.

If she had any sense she would see that the story would shift it's focus on different characters depending on the next storyline for each respective film.
Stupid woman.
Why couldn't she just be patient and wait her bloody turn?
She looked great as Storm, shame that her personality tarnishes her own image.

There's a famous saying in the media biz, something about being on friendly turns with people when you're doing well, because you may need them if you find yourself on the way down....(Or something like that).

Yes, Jada Pinkett Smith sounRAB a good alternative.

I may be sticking my neck out here, but if they can't get Jada...how about Beyonce?
I know, I know, she's a singer, and maybe they should look for an established actor.....

.....But Storm has a very specific image, and you pretty much need an attractive black woman for the part. So choices are limited anyway.
Beyonce has had minor appearances in one or two films, and this may be a challenge she might relish.
At the moment the story may not need Storm to take prominence in the storylines at the moment, so it gives her a bit of time to gain experience and learn to be a good actor in the meantime.

Beyonce looks the part, has star quality and presence, and would make a great looking Storm.
Anyone who has more grace, and is more grateful than than Halle Berry for the priviledge, probably deserves it more than her anyway.
What's with Halle Berry? She get's paid in millions, the spoilt brat.

But yes, I agree that Jada would be the best first choice.
But this could be a good opportunity for Beyonce if they are making up a shortlist.
I think being a male might have something to do with my choices. :)
But I do think the look is very important. Superhero films rely on good aesthetics amongst other criteria.

I do like the idea of a Mystique film too.

A phoenix can rise from the ashes once more.....

I will soon start the rumour that Mr Sinister has saved cyclops and brang back Jean from the dead and will soon recruit Angel and other mutants all in an effort to work under Lord Apocolypse.

Would it be such a bad idea

However it looks like 20th Century Fox has hired "Troy" screenwriter David Benioff to write Wolverine, a spinoff focusing on the character from the studio's "X-Men" films and Marvel comics.QUOTE]

Damn, the only bad thing about Troy is the dialogue.

Hang on, I guess that's quite a lot then....

I was going to start a separate thread but in here would be best. Got the X3 2-disc DVD and I have to say the deleted scenes are really good and should have been in the movie!!! It was too short and I would have welcomed them.

Also, they should have done something about that random split second transition from day to night when the Brotherhood arrive at Alcatraz. I thought there would have been a deleted scene with missing footage or something but nope.

Anyway, the extras are cool, yet to see the behind the scenes stuff yet. And yes, watch it really loud on DVD, tis teh fun. :)

X Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner has been talking about future X Men films as she said "Our original goal was to have like 'Star Wars', 'X-Men' 7, 8, 9 and 10 because there are certainly enough comics out there. And of course to have spin-oRAB. It would be nice as we incorporated new characters into each movie if they could continue to move on." So lets hope that we can to see a X4 even if it is with a new characters!
