X-Men 3

It looks like the X Men spin off films are carrying on as 20th Century Fox has set Sheldon Turner to write Magneto, an action-thriller based on the villainous character played in the first two "X-Men" films by Ian McKellen.

The studio is developing the spin-off as they separately develop X-Men 3. Simon Kinberg is writing the third installment. Magneto will likely be produced by the "X-Men" duo of Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios' Avi Arad.

The original "X-Men" film began with a prologue that showed Magneto as a child being led to a concentration camp by Nazis, and that is the period in which the new film will take place. Since the character will be seen almost exclusively in his formative years, it is not clear whether McKellen will be in the film at all though!

"I pitched a film that is almost 'The Pianist' meets 'X-Men,' about a guy who, after watching his family slaughtered, has an awakening of his powers and seeks revenge," Turner said.

The storyline will heavily involve Professor X (played by Patrick Stewart in the films). That character was a soldier in the allied force that liberated the concentration camps. The professor meets Magneto after the war, and while they bond over the realization that they are alike in their special powers, their differences soon turn them into enemies.

It looks like a great X Men future with X3, Wolverine and Magneto all being released in the next 3 years!

If they are planning on releasing X Men 3 in 2006 then they had better sort out a director soon. The rumour about Joss Whedon being set to write and direct "X-Men 3" in Summer 2005 is still going around. Joss Whedon did say this about the rumours before: "Nobody has approached me about the X-Men franchise. Would I like to make an X-Men movie? That'd be bitchin'. And I really think that, you know, I actually really like those actors, and I really like those characters, and I think there's a lot that could be done with it, and I think it would be a romp. But I'm not setting my sights on that".

I just hope they sort it out sooner rather than later as I have been waiting for this film since I finished watching X2!

I am sure I read when Avi Arad was talking about Matthew Vaughn leaving X3 he said that the casting of Angel would be confirmed in the next few days!
I cant see there being many more new characters than Angel, Juggernaut, Beast and Shadowcat as you only have 2 hours to introduce these new characters and also deal with storyline!

Appartently X3 writer Simon Kinsberg confirmed that the Dark Phoenix does have a big part in the movie. He also talked about the X3 script on aintitcool.com which he said the script that the had was 4 months old and was actually the first 88 pages of a rough draft. So it is different to the current script being used for filming now!
Finally he said that Gambit would not be a major character in X3!

There is a report from the X3 set on Superherohype in which a person saw what The Beast looks like and describes him:

I also had the luck of literally walking into Kelsey Grammer with his Beast head on, T-Shirt and shorts...I was going up the driveway to my car and he was coming down to the castle...The Beast is awwwwwesome!...I didn't recognize him because I was so astonished with the face...I told him he was "looking good" and then recognized his voice when he said thanks. The face is jet black and huge and builRAB up on his squarish features. Just at the side the skin turns a deep blue with a solid line running down the side so his ears are blue and his neck and shoulders. The hair is a different blue and looks like he put his finger in an electric socket. No one will be disappointed !

Kelsey Grammar is going to be great as Beast, his voice fits the part perfectly.
I'm suprised Beast wasn't in the movies from the start as he was one of the most important X Men in the comics/cartoons.

i havent seen any of those matthew vaughan films they all seem liked british gangstar films not my fav genre this will be a total new league for vaughan

More on X-Men/Joss Whedon, and now, Wonder Woman wants to get in on the act! ;)

from http://www.aintitcool.com

"Joss Whedon is in final negotiations with Joel Silver and Warner Bros. to write and direct WONDER WOMAN for Summer 2006. Joss Whedon. Joel Silver. WONDER WOMAN. 2006. That's right, baby!!! Ain't it cool?

The only possible thing standing in this picture's way is X-MEN 3. I know what's been said, but Fox is still coming after him hard to direct that, and that's a tough thing for a guy like Joss to pass up. But he probably will. For WONDER WOMAN.

Call Joel Silver and ask him about it. I'm serious, this is very real. Negotiations are ongoing, but this could break in the trades any day. Guys, I'm giving you the exclusive because I'm such a fan of your site, but in a day or two, I'm going to send the info to other places as well...I'm that psyched about it, and I think that Joss's legions of fans should know how close they are to to gold-braceletted greatness."

Interesting, Charisma Carpenter (of Buffy and Angel fame) had expressed a desire to play Wonder Woman a few months back. :)

This morning on Australian TV Show "Today", Famke Janssen (Jean Gray) confirmed that "she has finished working on Nip/tuck and her next project is X3". Good news all round for X Men 3!

Mercedes Scelba-Shorte isn't pretty at all and im sure her acting will be awful.

Ashley Hartman does have the look of Emma Frost but looks a little young for her. i always see Emma like late20's early30's

Rebecca Romijn stated recently that rumours that X3 storyline would revolve around Dark Phoenix may no longer be accurate. As Fox don't know what character the third movie will focus and revolve around as there has been plenty of changes from the first drafts of the X3 script!
