Yesterday I had the extreme pleasure of having lunch with Jamie Utter
and Squeaks.
Jamie hasn't posted here for a while so for those of you that remember
her she's doing well.
Jamie's cardamom ice cream and her coffee bean ice cream are listed on
the rfc website signature dishes.
It's because of Jamie's lamb kabobs that I finally learned to like
lamb.

Anyway, lest I digress too much. Squeaks and I met up with Jamie at
Kim's Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in Encinitas. We had a great lunch
and caught up on old times and shared our latest new with each other.

Jamie's going to come visit one weekend and we are going to gorge on
the chorizo filled dates that I make.

It was hard to part ways but Squeaks and I had a hot date with Sur la
Table. LOL I know, throw the wonderful friend to the curb and go
shopping, no, it wasn't like that. ;-)
I had a mission, I need a powerful immersion blender and Surly table
had it and I wasn't going to leave the area without it.
Squeaks and I drove over to Carlsbad and helped the local economy a
bit.
I got my immersion blender and a few more things.

It was a wonderful afternoon with two wonderful women. I hope we'll be
able to do it again soon.

I have never seen summer rolls served "make your own". There are
plenty of other dishes served that way, but never an appetizer itself.
Sometimes spring rolls (AKA spring rolls) will be served with lettuce
wraps with tables salad.

I have. There is a place in Sacramento that does it that way. You
are brought the wrappers dried, and furnished a bowl of warm/hot water
in which to dip them to soften them. Then you roll your own.

When I first went to this place, I was new to this type of spring
roll, as far as making them. I had never made them on my own, and I
didn't know what the water was for, or how to soften them. I had
eaten them before, but they were always premade. My companion didn't
know either.

I have since learned.

That was "(AKA Egg Rolls)".

Spring rolls are fried like egg rolls. Summer rolls are fresh
ingredients and maybe cooked meat in rice paper.

My extreme pleasure.

I can't wait to use it. It's on the counter beckoning me. Maybe I'll
crush some ice with it tonight and pour some Bailey's over it.
I better stop nipping at that bottle or I won't have any left for the
carbomb cake.

Hey, I got some really cool stuff for that money. Who besides me do
you know that have an 8 blade pickle slicer.
