I heard somewhere that when allied forces, specifically American soldiers, found and liberated some concentration camps near the end of World War 2 they saw the horribly malnourished prisoners and gave them their chocolate rations in an attempt to give them some relief. By doing this, however, they accidentally killed some of them due to the prisoners being in such poor condition and malnourished. I believe it had something to do with those who were interned not being able to properly process the sugar which they had not had in years causing some type of fatal or serious reaction or it might have possibly been widespread anaphylactic shock of some sort. In any case, if any of this or something similar occurred and anyone has any information on the subject I would be very interested to learn more. Also a source would be greatly appreciated so I could research the matter more fully myself. Thank you.
