Wtf is Nintendo's excuse for the Wii shortages?

I hope every ass who bought PS3s or Wiis to sell on eBay don't get bidders & have to keep the system until supply is sufficient & then sell for a loss. Of course, that will never happen because people are dumb enough to pay >2x the worth.
 
It's partly the stores' fault, too. They keep them off the floor until the ads come out on Sundays, so they can advertise them as being "in stock".
 
To make people want it even more. You can't release a system and have units sitting there on shelves.

Its old technology there are no hardware shortages. Nintendo just doesnt want the average person to think " Why are these still sitting here? "
 
Today was like launch day all over again, I went with my friend to queue over at the local bestbuy and he got there 2 hours before they open and was 50th in line. It had at least doubled in length by 10am.
