so if the are just like 2 essays, what are they exactly? are you from the valley?

you need a little bit of real responsibility. get off the computer and take
yesrod's advice. just get started and do it.
 
I personally don't think it's relevant whether or not the readers of this thread think that essays are fun or not. Even if it is decided that they are useful, two essays a week is pretty heavy. Although essays can (under the right circumstances) promote good, thorough thought on a subject, this is impossible too accomplish with so much writing and so little time. By giving the students almost no time to come up with valid thoughts on the subject, the teacher is doing nothing but promoting generic, shallow writing. Sure, speed writing can be useful for some college courses, but it's not a valuable life skill. This teacher needs to realize that the purpose of the assignment (theoretically, to promote thinking and ordered argument) is being negated by the quantity of essays.

talkdirty's got a great point; no point having students churn out generic pieces of templates. The truth is that writing is a form of communication, and important no matter what field you go into. I was surprised my engineering ungrad curriculum had a communications course every semester with at least 3 or 4 major writing assignments each semester. I do love the fact that my curriculum focuses on conciseness, clarity, and logical flow rather than length. Most of my reports are limited to 5 pages double spaced. I smile whenever I think of how friends from arts and sciences always complain about doing 20 page research essays.
 
Essays force you to conform to some authority figure's standards, in your case a teacher. FUck that shit. I hate conforming. Conformity is futile. Go your own way and write the essay like a fucking story. I say that if you can't do things your own way, then you're limiting yourself. Don't allow the horrific education system get you down. It's all a big fucking facade to get you to conform to the government and be a fucking sheep your whole life, paying your income tax (which isn't even a law although the IRS seems to think it is for some reason), and get fucked continuously by a fucking awful boss. I constantly write about shit like this in my blog. Get out there and be someone, but don't write essays about bullshit, fuck that, you don't need that shit.
 
Wow, we have a big anarchist people. Can you believe it, he would actually write a STORY instead of an ESSAY. I'm just fucking with you man. But seriously, you went from talking about some essay to...something about federal income tax? Come on.
