Do you know how to read? I'm clearly stating that the 8700 has all of those features, and you're telling me that I'm saying it doesn't.

Don't forget, iphone software will be updated with new features. I heard that 3G is built in, it just needs to be activated just like how Macbook had 802.11n but needed to be upgraded before it can use it.
 
fair enough, but if you can't live without OT gif's for a bit you've got bigger issues.

wifi is every where here and free and open, so its not the big of a deal. I'm sure you or someone else will bring up the while driving argument, but its illegal to do anyway here
 
iPhone is a neat product and all, and integrates a lot of things in a way that makes it simpler than most smartphones but you have to admit a lot of things about it are pretty bs, like not being able to use the iPod features without a plan

i'm just saying that any page, regardless of it being OT or just a regular webpage that might be a megabyte or two in size will take forever for any edge phone to load.

but yeah, i will bring up the argument about using it while driving. maybe you won't be the one that's driving and just want to go online while another person is driving.

i really doubt ways around it would void the warranty, it's just being able to transfer a music file to a folder where it can be read.
but obviously we don't know yet.

Verizon (who I currently use) charges up the ass for their songs and won't let you just transfer them to your phone. Most of the time you have to use a special method to get an MP3 over to the phone (or microSD chip and have it read on phone).
 
there's a very legal reason as to why apple has not implemented mp3 ringtone features.

the device as an ipod suggest that you've paid for your music. (or gotten it elsewhere)

Once you manipulate a song you start treading into legal issues...and apple for the most part probably doesn't want to step on any toes until they strike up some licensing deals with the greedy ass recold label companies that like the fact that pple pay for crummy ass mp3 ringtones.

If apple offered mp3 ringtone capability off the bat they'd be stomped on by the labels.

So dont get your panties in a bunch over lack of MP3 ringtones. It's not apples fault.

If apple wasnt so well known for the ipod then maybe mp3 ringtone capabilty couldve slipped under the radar...but given that this device is made to play music an hold songs...unlikely for now.

and if you can log in via desktop over the internet, you can login with windows mobile and opera, and most likely PIE too
 
You dont need to be eligible for an "upgrade", the phone comes out Friday at 6. The treo especially (dunno about other WM phones) has a smaller screen, I dont believe it has wifi, and is not as good of a media player.

You guys can hate on it all you want, but this looks nicer aesthetically, has a nicer user interface, and is a better media player than what is available. Even the internet is better on it, no its not as good as a laptop due to the lack of flash but it is better than whats available on most phones.
