Wrongly given meds

If I were misdiagnosed with hypertension and was given Lisinopril to take daily at twenty milligrams what would be the likely symptoms I would display if I never needed this med in the first place?

Welcome to the boards!

As for an answer to your question, it depends on lots of things, including how long (hours/days/weeks/months) you took the med. Low blood pressure would probably result (but not always) and symptoms of this would be feeling faint or passing out...but having been on lisinopril myself, I would say that there could be lots and lots of side effects, even if it were the right dose for you. A bad cough and arthritic symptoms are common.

Certainly the feeling faint rings bells with me and I sometimes feel so light headed that I come close to passing out though this usually comes after me standing too quickly. What about cold fingers?

How many doses of lisiniopril did you take? 2? 4? or did you take this med over a period of years?

What did you doc say?

What did your pharmacist say?

Why are you asking us?

I don't mean to sound nosey, but there can be many, many answers to your question...and as I said in my first post, "It depends".

Just because you may feel faint or feel like passing out doesn't mean it IS the lisinopril. Other conditons can cause this also...what other symptoms are you experiencing? And perhaps, more importantly, why do you think you were given the wrong dose?

The getting light headed from standing quickly can be a symptom of high or low blood pressure. As for the cold fingers, that could be Reynaud's (which I have). So neither symptom taken separately or together would indicate a problem with the med. Do you check your bp regularly? Thta's a better indicator. If oyu don't have a home machine, then stop by any fire station and have them check it. I used to do that before I bought my own. They are happy to it.
