Wrong Time On Text Messages

Since yesterday, whenever I receive a new text message, the sent time is always wrong and the message gets jumbled into the rest of the conversation. Anyone had this problem and how can I fix it?

I just flashed Hero, and I have this problem.

Is the time wrong for every person who sends you a message? (checking if it uses the timestamp for when it was sent or when it was received) If not, check that the time (and timezone) is set properly on the sender's phone.

Is it the same time difference for every message? (checking if it could be something wrong with time zones) If so, is your time zone set correctly? Is your clock set correctly?

I don't know if there is a bug on whichever ROM you are using, but those would be the things I would check first.

yo i had the same problem yesterday...out of the blue the timestamp for the person sending me texts was like 5hrs behind...i just reflashed today to a different build and so far it seems good...but yeah I was using rogers i think i dont even remember iv been switching so much..now im on the newest cyanogens

I posted the same question yesterday. Tmobile has told me that they are working to fix the issue. It only happens when the text comes from a non-tmobile number. Some one mentioned timezones being a possible problem but that is not it. I get the same 4 hours difference from friends on the east coast as I do my brother in Vegas.

i quit using sms popup, and i have no more issues with time, or delaying of messages.

i blame sms popup for my text lagging, because it seems to only beep once, on the 1st message, and only when the phone comes back from sleep mode, will it beep and flash for every message after that.

yep been having the same problem all week.. I believe its a Tmo issue, cause it happened before a few months ago for a few days and then it was fixed... might flash to another rom to confirm, but wont be able to do so till prob this weekend..

Well I hope it gets fixed pretty soon because its really annoying. The only thing that helps is to try and read the whole message when it pops up via sms popup.

I quit using smspopup when it started crashing randomly from certain people. I liked it, but oh well.

I believe it's service related not phone or ROM. I have a few friends who send me messages that are always delivered without consistency. Messages coming from U.S. Cellular are especially painful. Two friends who use them send me texts... they are usually on a 10 to 15 minute delay, but sometimes up to 3 or 4 hours... and then they come through as duplicates too. I experience no problem when texting T-Mobile to T-Mobile, but if people send my texts using another carrier, it seems a bit "spotty."

Uh.... my friend lives in a different state, but same timezone.

There is like a 6 hour difference, when she delivers her text.

Not possible because i receive the text like a minute after my text.

This problem is annoying.

Download either of these two apps or try them both. They are specifically developed for this bug with Rogers/Fido. Either look in Android Market or AppBrain for "smstimefix" and "smsfixtimes". Either should fix your problem.
