So this is going to sound kind of dumb, and many writers would be against it, but, I think that if you are given a short title to start off with it could help you create a story. Also, the title doesn't have to be the title in the end, it's just sort of a starter. For example, The Lightning Thief, you would really have to be creative to come up with what that could mean. So, can someone give me a few titles that I could write a story around?
