Writing essay on book........ advice?

We have and assignment over the summer to write two three page essays about two different books. My question is what type of information should be in an essay... (book summary, opinion on book, or what?)
 
normally when i was at school we had to give an overall view of the whole book, so you basically summarixe the book, talk about the different techniques used, i,e tenses,

it should be a whole summary. i think i have some of my old school work kicking bout you could read over/
 
Book summary should be the majority of your essay. During the middle of your recap of the story you could interject your opinions.
