I don't have very much figured out yet, but it's gonna take place in a post-apocalyptic version of our world. It will involve mutants (kinda like X-Men), monsters, vampires, all that stuff. 
I need help with a few things.
1) How should the apocalypse happen? (I'm not going involve zombies in this.
)
2) How much technology should remain? Would there be cars, internet, electricity? What would the infrastructure (bridges, buildings and such) be like?
3) This is the one I'm stuck on, and it's sorta hard to explain. I'm thinking that about 80% of the people that survived are normal humans, 20% are mutants/vampires. But before the apocalypse, the world wasn't aware of their existence. So that would mean that proportionally, more mutants survived. How could I make that work out in the story?

I explained that poorly. When I said that proportionately more mutants survived, I should have specified that before the apocalypse they made up like 2% of the population... and after, more like 20%.
