The paper is supposed to the "The MOST Influential in American History" but I am looking for someone more obscure. In my opinion, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr were the most influential, but I'd like to write it about an artist/musician if possible...?

Much appreciated answers please! =]

Maybe you could write about Leo Ornstein (the oldest musical composer to die at the age of 110) from America. Though he was 5 foot 4, he was a musical giant of modern American music history. :) xxxx

Many people overlook Ray Charles. There is also Quincy Jones. Although Maya Angelou doesn't sing, she is a poet, that expresses thoughts that could be put to music. They are/were distinguished people who are considered philanthropists. Hope I was helpful, and I hope you get a great grade!

You could write about someone who influenced an enormous amount of people to change something that was happening in America, I am thinking of someone along the lines of Joan Baez or Bob Dylan - who influenced a whole generation's thinking about war and aggression, through their music people demonstrated about Vietnam, and banning the atomic bomb etc, their lyrics were poetical and yet their songs galvanised a whole movement - surely you could argue this as the pen being mightier than the sword - and hence more influential,
