Writing a history book. Opinions?

I found out my best writing is when I write about history. Fictional.
I wrote a story about a girl going to the New World and I want to write another history book.
Does anyone have a certain time in history that they liked to learn, or thought was fascinating, that would be cool to write about?
Thanks!

i like the 1800s bit was such a great time a turn of the century or turn of the world kind of thing what i think is so good about it is that we werent there and they wore those long skirts and bonnets and long sleeve shirts which i think are so darn cute

i love the crusades and the roman empire cos they were the time that changed the history of the world in which we live, the food we eat, the type of ppl we know now and understand. they basically shaped what we were gona be like in the future, as far back as it seems, cos at one point Hannibal could have taken Rome when it was young, before the empire had even begun to expand, so imagine the implications of that? that's why i adore that past so much, and iv also just finished a book based in and around the 8th-9th crusades called Brethren, which was a brilliant read, also Warrior of Rome is a good read:)

but if you want fiction, it doesn't have to have what history says happens ;). you could make up groups of ppl, or even describe what happened when Hannibal took over rome, and explain what couldve been affected by that (nearly the fate and history of Europe itself, to be blunt XD) you can do all sorts, or to do with what happened during the wars, or what would have been affected or changed if say, waterloo had been won by the french, or the english civil war, if it had been won by the yorkshire side, there might not have been a navy? (that's because henry 1st was a lancashire lad, and cos he was king, he invested all the money into a navy, hence the strong navy we had then; because of that, we wouldn't have won over the spanish, or the french, or maybe not even have populated the Americas :P.

sorry for the rant but i love history myself and get passion about it sometimes ^^

hope iv helped :)

The Black Plague
World War 1 and 2
The Spanish Inquisition
The American Civil War
The Depression
The Renaissances Era

They would all be good history topics

As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continue, the Crusades become a more and more important and fascinating part of history: culture shock, alienation, travel, religion, and, of course, brutal violence are all important themes.

Personally, I don't know of many books set in the Jacksonian era (1820's, I believe), as America gradually transformed from a rural farming nation into a cosmopolitan superpower. It's the same time period that "Wuthering Heights" is set in, but on a different continent. Plus, the fashions are really cool. You can mix "Pride and Prejudice", Wild West, and "There Will Be Blood" early industrial themes into a riviting novel.
