WOW the reception to Star Trek is awesome, do you think it could be up for an oscar?

It was an enjoyable film but there was nothing particularly outstanding about it apart from the excellent casting - and there isn't an Oscar for best casting.
 
it would have had to be totally filled with homosexual sex scenes for it to get an oscar. oscar voters snub action/scifi films. it has to be a film that makes them feel like they are making a political statement. just remember that last pick ...milk
 
You're forgetting films by little known directors like Peter Jackson, Rob Marshall, Clint Eastwood and Martin Scorcese.

Lovely Bones - Jackson
Shutter Island - Scorcese
The Human Factor - Eastwood
Nine - Marshall

These look to be the four that will fight it out. The 5th wildcard may go to Michael Mann's Johnny Depp gangster flick with Public Enemies.
