WOW.. ORB Streaming Media ?

So im still new to the S60 world and keep stumbling on new software.
I found a program called ORB http://www.orb.com/

Talk about ****ing neat... I have a let say "extensive" media collection (pushin 250 gigs on disk). ORB will stream just about anthing to the phone. Hell iv even streamed DVD's over 3.5g connection. Works wonderfull, but I just have one consern.

Is this media that im sharing to my login able to be seen by any one else? Any one else ever have and issues with ORB and security?
 
Been using Orb for over a year and have never had issues with security.

But to be sure never put any private info on any computers connected to the internet.
 
yeah i've used orb for a while now. note: for those who want to stream xm or sirius radio to your phone, orb is the only solution for us right now. on your computer add your xm streams, then you can pull them from your phone when you log into orb on the s60 browser. works damn good. search for uSirius or uXM programs to get the stream addresses.
 
its great because it literally allows you to access any file on your computer from anywhere in the world. i'm just not sure on how good the quality is streaming music over orb. but for the xm radio streams, its the only option and works great. now i can have howard stern AND ron and fez on my phone
 
quality seems pretty good. I think the faster connection you have on the PC the better. Im fortunate enough to have ~1.5 up stream...


Im not sure where this has ben hiding from me at. Hell i would have bought a smart phone a long time ago.

Any other apps like this that i should know about?
I feel like such a N00B...
 
I am not too keen on leaving my PC on all the time, that's why I favor Slingmedia player and Slingbox more... and I do have 1tb on my TivoHD, so I can access, lot of recorded shows as well as live TV.
 
yeah you're right, the app runs a quick speed test each login to determine the quality. i forgot about that. my downfall is i have a laptop, and its not always running. so i have to purposely leave it on when i need to use orb.
 
I cant shut down file servers, web servers, domain controllers, and most important now -- the ORB server...

The laptop gets the big shut often tho!
 
What are you guys settings for real player as far as lowest DUP port and highest. Mine refused to connect.

Nevermind, I was doing something wrong lol. I got it now
 
also, note that you can download 'Real Alternative' (google it) instead of having RealPlayer junk up your computer. It's *just* the drivers/codecs/whatever, not the full thing.
