Wow I am surprised there isnt a mario anime series

You know how successful mario is...He's got a bunch of games, and 3 cartoons back in the 90's. You think they wouldve done an anime series by now, but sadly nintendo hasnt even considered the idea of doing it.

I mean, would it be cool to see a Mario anime series?
 
There was an anime movie and yeesh, I don't want to remeraber that. There were also three OVAs based on Japanse fairy tales that just had me going huh upon description.
 
Okay, maybe this is a bad example.

But actually, in the right hanRAB a Mario anime could work... then again, pretty much anything could work if put in the right hanRAB, so...
 
There was a Mario OVA made back in the day, but I agree there should be a mario anime series, as long as its better then the US mario show.

As for a Mario Anime, I wouldn't mind seeing one but it doesn't look like Nintendo is interested in creating any more cross media projects with Mario. As of now, Pokemon and Prof Layton are the only Nintendo franchises that are getting any animated works out of them.

Still, I'd love to see an OVA series that is essentially a bunch of character spotlights where they all try to one-up Mario but fail miserably. Seems like a perfect chance for comedy gold.

Also even if a Mario anime was made, who will dub it, and when will it come over? I ask this because the Animal Crossing movie never made it hear yet, and I'm kind of worried about Layton movie as well. But considering that Mario is like the nuraber #1 franchise for Nintendo, I don't think it would be a problem of it coming over. Hell, I can kind of see it as a Club Nintendo Exclusive item in all honesty.
 
He's apparently her fiance, whom takes peach away from Mario and Peach just goes into his arms. What do Mario and Luigi get? A free ride home.

In this film, you could tell Mario loved Peach, and for that to happen was just l:v(
 
That Anime was made during the early days of the Mario franchise (1986, I think). Luigi, if I remeraber, wasn't so well defined back then, hence the wrong coloring. Otherwise, yeah, it's an hour long movie about Mario and Luigi traveling the Mushroom Kingdom to (surprise, surprise) save Peach.

Since it is so early in the franchise, the anime took certain liberties to create their own Mushroom Kingdom and dare I say, the results look even more surreal then the video games? Interestingly, it takes the concept the American Mario cartoons would utilized later on in that both Mario and Luigi lived in Earth (or some place that is not the Mushroom Kingdom). They didn't get their via a pipe, but was instead sucked into their TV (or specifically, the video game Mario played). Interestingly, Mario in the Anime is more of a daydreamer who constantly cannot stop thinking about Peach (it's rather cute) while Luigi, before the days of Wario, was a greedy money hog.

The other Mario Anime came out in 1989, based on Super Mario Bros. 3. This one told three short fairy tales using the Mario franchise; two of them based on Japanese tales. The third based on Snow White. The animation is a lot closer to the video games. Also, it had that infamous scene of Luigi coming out of nowhere and kicking Bowser (dressed as the Evil Queen) in the third short, which I declare his crowning moment of awesome.

Even though there's no anime series per say, there was a rather good manga version of Super Mario which was serialized in Nintendo Power magazine back in the early 1990's.
The artwork was drawn by renowned mangaka Shotoro Ishinomori (creator of Kikaider, Cyborg 009, Power Rangers, and Kamen Rider). If there was ever to be an anime series made of the franchise, his character designs would be a perfect fit.
 
I'm glad it never happened. From what I have seen Videogame based anime is generally very bad. I really have not seen a good anime show based on a video game in my probably 15 years as an anime fan.
 
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie was great. Probably the best animated adaptation of SF to date.

I heard the Layton movie was also very true to the series as well.
 
Yes he is. What I meant to say was: if someone were to make an anime based on his manga adaptation using his style, it could have the potential to be a good anime.
 
If memory serves me right, I believe that's her dad (at first I thought it was some boyfriend, too). Yes, I've seen it - and boy, is it weird! I mean, really weird. And don't get me started on Bowser!
