Would you watch an MTVToons channel?

Basically all the animation that MTV aired and still has the rights to, but on an AS type channel. Liquid TV, B&B, Daria, The Head, The Maxx, Downtown, Clone High, etc. Viacom already owns everything under the sun, I doubt this would actually break them.

Not enough programming

What they should/should've done is air them on Nicktoons ala Adult Swim. Though it seems that Viacom does not want to use the MTV Library..

MTV doesn't have enough animated programs for their own channel, unless you wouldn't mind seeing Beavis & Butthead 10 times in a day, Daria 10 times in a day and Celebrity Deathmatch another 8 times in a day, although it would be nice to see Liquid Television again.

An MTV Toons channel wouldn't work without 3rd party acquisitions.

That sounds nice to me, but I'd just hope they put some variety into it. I mean, they've shown it on MTV2 from time to time, but they've never shown the earliest episodes.

I'd watch Bevis and Butthead for a while and definatly The Maxx and Aeon Flux but other than that I wouldn't really be a regular to the network. Seeing The Maxx again would be a treat though.

Same here. I've seen a couple of the cartoons listed here and I wasn't too impressed with them. Still, I could see them having a kind of MTVToons block on their channel. They obviously don't have enough shows to fill a whole channel. They could also put the rest of these series on DVD, if they haven't already, since that also fills like a more possible means of distributing these shows than having a whole new channel.

If it ended up on a digital channel, I probably couldn't. But if it was a channel I can afford,,, my all time faves, Daria,,, without the noggin cuts,,, ah heck I watch them anyway, Downtown,,, I already have the complete (not for retail) DVD,,, and The Maxx? Yea sure.

The real problem is that MTvAnimation doesn't seem to have secured alot of possible copyrighted stuff amoung other problems that seem to hinge on the idea they simply don't want the creators to get royalties. They'll never re-release that to anyone unless they get bought out first.

I have to agree with the notion of creating an Adult Swim style "channel" attached to Nicktoons (which I don't get, BTW). MTV Animation's body of work is:

Liquid Television, which spun off Beavis & Butt-Head and Aeon Flux
Oddities (Head/Maxx, the latter owned by creator Sam Kieth)
Daria (spun off from Beavis & Butt-Head)
Celebrity Deathmatch (from Head creator Eric Fogel)
Downtown
Channel Zero (short-lived series with animated "VJ's").

And, then......

3 South (produced by WB for MTV)
Undergrads
Heat Guy J (which didn't last long)
Spider-Man (2003, produced by Sony & Mainframe for MTV)
Clone High

And, maybe.....

Ren & Stimpy (Nickelodeon & Spike; earlier series repeats aired on MTV & VH1)
Stripperella (Spike)
Gary the Rat (Spike)
This Just In (short-lived Spike series)

And any Comedy Central cartoon not named South Park....

As much as I love Beavis & Butthead and Daria, I don't think that there'd be enough to fill an MTVToons channel with, even if you add some of the Comedy Central toons and the "edgier" NickToons.

I can, however, see a Sickamation revival on MTV2 working, and as long as they add Daria and Rocko's Modern Life, I'll tune in.

Bevis and Butthead would sadly be the main attraction to the network unless they got some new originals and even then, I dont see it working out in the least bit.

Given how much repetition there is nowadays on channels like CN and Nickelodeon, I think a channel of this type could work, even with a perceived lack of available material. If they realistically wanted to do it, I'm sure they could acquire other properties to fill out the schedule.

With South Park being owned by Viacom, I could see MTVToons airing the show, along with Drawn Together, Dr. Katz, and Futurama, provided Fox would let CC share the broadcast rights. I don't think any other CC animated show has a high enough episode count.
