Would you vote for Abraham Lincoln if he ran in this election?

Obviously, I've had to make some guesses here. Given that he was a liberal Republican who was absolutely hawkish on military force, I postulate the following:

- Lincoln would be in support of smaller government and less spending
- Lincoln would be pro gay-rights and pro-choice.
- Lincoln would believe the US had the unilateral right to wield military might in order to preemptively stop terror and spread democracy. He would not "ask the UN for permission" on any issue.
- Lincoln would *not* support welfare or excessive programs to help poor people simply out of compassion.
- Lincoln would *not* support taxing the rich to pay for federal funding.

Now, please, rather than correcting me - guesses on guesses - tell me point blank whether you would vote for this "Lincoln" character, complete with the positions I've given you, in 2008. Please state which positions you agree/disagree with. Also keep in mind that, on most of those, he would be opposite of Barack Obama.
*facepalm* at the poster who just evoked slavery... first, that made no sense, second that was out of line, and third, read the full description again where I state Lincoln would remain socially liberal.

If that is what Lincoln would stand for I would vote for him. The only thing I don't like is the pro-choice. Other than that sounds good to me.

If Lincoln ran, people would point to Mt. Rushmore and the Lincoln Memorial as proof that Lincoln is such a celebrity that he shouldn't be taken seriously and as proof of a cult of personality between him and his followers.

Just 3 years ago Palin was a Mayor for a small town in Alaska, I would pick almost anyone over her and McCain, especially Lincon. But If Clinton (Hilary) was running... I would go with her, or Obama.

Obama for Pres 08 ~

I would never vote for someone who has already committed treason as clearly defined in Article V, Section 3 of the United States Constitution, and who brazenly violated his oath of office by doing so.

Such a person could not be trusted.

he would be the opposite of barack obama...you do know lincoln freed the slaves right...you do know barack obama is black right? so by your logic since obama is lincolns opposite you are saying obama wants to enslave himself. wow good job making a fool of yourself.

edit: how do i make no sense? it makes perfect sense to me. unless there is some hidden meaning in the words "he would be opposite of Barack Obama". The main goals behind the Civil War were to hold together the Union and free black slaves and the Civil War was the highlight of Lincolns career. Lincoln was socially liberal, so his opposite (Barack Obama according to you) would be the exact opposite.

I may vote upon his character but not necessarily if his ideas were a hundred years behind the times. This is almost an indefensible position as no one can assume what his thoughts would be- for one, we are now ruled by corporately funded politicians with a completely different set of agendas.Given his presumed character I'd be hopeful of some form of wisdom unknown by today's self absorbed culture.
