I find that I am better at things that I have taught myself rather than things I have learnt at school.
But I am aware that most people are more likely to trust someone with a school certificate for a particular subject, rather than take the word of someone who is self-taught.
How likely are you to trust someone who have taught themselves something, e.g. an instrument? If you had to pay them for private lessons, would you pay them just as much as someone who has a certificate for the instrument if you thought they were really good?
