I'm selling my boat on craigslist. This guy has been in contact with me, showing a lot of interest. He's asking specific, educated questions about the boat. He is coming to see it in person, but is four hours away. He is asking me if I would accept a certified check from his bank, because he doesn't feel comfortable carrying around all that cash (over $5,000). He wants my full name and VIN for trailer and HID for the boat. I really need this thing sold, but I can't get ripped off. I'd like to tell him cash only, but there are risks involved on his side carrying that much cash. I can't give the check time to clear because he lives so far away. It's not so far fetched to drive this far to pick up a boat, I drove 10 hours to pick it up when I bought it. Should I take his check?
