Would you... Spare the rod or swing it?

i dont believe the Bible says that...
but i am sorry to say i completely disagree with you.

why would you spank your kid after they ALREADY got hurt?
how is adding pain to pain going to change it?

i think spanking is debatable. theres so many different situations...
personally, i think i would spank when my son grows up, but not when he already hurt himself! thats just mean!!!
maybe if he colored with permanent markers on our walls and i told him not to and then he did it again would he get a spanking.
but like you said, not to hurt him, just to physically enforce the rules.

but simply saying 'no' to everything will only encourage your kid to say 'no' to YOU for everything.

Rather spank your child when he sticks something in the electric socket repeatedly to teach him to associate that with pain

or

Continue to tell him "No" and pray that you catch him every time and that if he's ever at someones house they catch it?

Just curious.
I believe in spankings... Not hard enough to really hurt them physically and ONLY when my child does something that could be fatal or hurtful.
I prefer TIME OUT or sending them to their rooms.

Even the Bible says "if you spare the rod you spoil your child"
That doesn't mean to go all out and beat them.

WHATS YOUR OPINION?

Well I'm a big fan of "archaic religious books" and I'm a big fan of respectful and courteous children...

So I use any and all methods that we've found to be effective in disciplining my child...from "time outs" to spanking.

My justification for this method???
I don't need any...but it certainly reinforces my belief that it's the "Right" method simply because if you look at adolescents 20 years ago vs adolescents today...and it's like night and day.

Somewhere in the quest to be "enlightened" and "educated" and "evolved"...we became blind jackasses that are raising indulgent entitled disrespectful brats.

I'll keep my "archaic religious books", my "rod" and my respectful children thank you very much.
