Would you prefer a Stewie and Brain Road to Road spin off or Cleavland spin off?

The "Road to..." episodes are like tacos; good once in a while, but you don't want them all of the time.

I want to give The Cleveland Show a fair shake, but since Seth MacFarlane is already working on 2 shows about animated families, I really don't see what Seth and company can do on Cleveland that they're not already doing on Family Guy and American Dad. I mean, how many times can you retread that formula before it gets old?

Regardless of how it would be packaged, it would still be an overdose of Brian and Stewie. Those characters don't need a spinoff, since they practically dominate the show they're on already. Not to mention the fact that Family Guy would sink faster than the Lusitania without them. FG can survive without Cleveland, but not without Stewie or Brian.

A lot of people are wrong. A Quamire show would be a disaster, because Quagmire is too one-dimensional a character to carry an entire series on his own. They couldn't build a whole series around a guy who's basically just a relentless horndog. Glen's character would have to be radically revised in order to make him a suitable leading man; they'd have to replace a lot of his outrageousness with lovability, which would turn him into a completely different character than the Glen Quagmire that everyone's so fond of. Quagmire simply isn't very deep or lovable, so he wouldn't work as the star.

I'd rather have a Meg spin-off.

No, seriously, think about it. The writers hate Meg - it's not even a secret anymore. She gets almost no screen time, and when she does, it's just so other characters can dump on her. She's a completely irrelevant character in the "Family Guy" cast right now. So why not send her off to college or something on a separate show, complete with a new and talented writing staff of people who do know how to write for teenage girls? It seems obvious to me - the "Family Guy" writers wouldn't have to write for Meg anymore, the Meg fans would finally see her become a worthwhile character again, and everybody's happy.

Sort of like how Daria was spun off from Beavis & Butthead, only with a different producer and a different team of writers. It could work.

Brian and Stewie would almost definitely make for a better show than The Cleveland Show will be. Whose idea was it to give Cleveland his own show anyway? It's like if Barney Gumble got his own spinoff.

A spin-off is best when it uses a character who hasn't had tons of screen time in the main show. It's an open canvas. We already know pretty much everything we want to know about Stewie and Brian. There would be nothing exciting about their spin-off, really.

That's probably why Frasier worked. He was only a minor character on Cheers. I don't anticipate the same success for a FG spinoff, but Cleveland is probably the best character to use, if they must do this.
