Would you pass up a pre-2009 because it hasn't got the updated frame?

I have an 08 and would like to get a shovelhead some day to ride around town. Harleys are not like yamahas. They all have their own thing. I don't think you should ignore any good deal. There is nothing at all wrong with most any year bike.

i ride a 01 eg clasic, it handles as good as a cbr1000 hurricane i used to ride.. i wouldnt own a newer touring bike. it might be more user friendly if you cant ride..

I know in southeast wisconsin the dealers are packed in showroom and wharehouse with used classics and ultras. might be some good deals on used low mi bikes and all the extras on the bike are free.

Went from a nice '99 RK to an '09 Police RK thinking I had to have a "new" bike. Now I have a super nice '03 Electraglide Classic. The new bike handled well, but didn't fit me.

True that. I like to browse Cycle Trader dot com just to see what's available and usually set the search to "91 to '98 Harleys as I have a '91 FLHS. Geez, you can see great condition relatively low mileage Harleys on there for as low as $6K. Now that's a real deal to own and ride a Harley. These same bikes just a few years ago were around $9k minimum.

All pre-2009 touring bikes are death traps. If you have a pre-2009 touring bike, sell it immediately to save yourself. Let me know where you're advertising it.

After years of riding metrics, and dreaming of HD, I bought a 2007 FLHR this spring with 4500 miles on it for about 10k less than the price of a 2010 (at the time) in the color I wanted in perfect condition. I read a lot of posts here and on other HD forums about the frame/waggles, etc. that I really worried about buying the bike. After reading some posts, I thought the scoot was going to fall apart every time I took a turn...

3k miles later I'm still here and in love with this bike. Yeah, I wanted ABS brembos, and the latest greatest frame...but didn't think the price differential was worth it. Guess what, I still don't! But if I win the lottery tomorrow, I'm jumping on a 2011 street glide!
