Would you like to see an anime of Legend of Zelda?

With Nintendo being known for various series, you think they would allow animated zelda to happen. Surely it did but however it didnt do so well. Now with all the anime thats going around I have thought to myself it would be pretty neat to see a Zelda anime. I will admit I got the idea of a zelda anime after looking at the style of cel-shaded graphics on the wind waker{ducks for cover}

So would you like to see an anime series or a movie of the legend of zelda? It would be nice as a serious anime.

As a OVA series or a short long series, yaeh. BUT:
-Link doesn't talk. Or at least, bearly talk. Action speaks louder than worRAB, right?
-An original story.
-Not too dark. It's Zelda. Blood? Sure. Death? Yeah. Dark? No-not really. Keep it like a normal shonen level. Strict but fun and goofy too. Come on, you really want to see Zelda to be dark like Death Note or Berserk? NO!

I've always thought MM would have made a really awesome OVA. It's an interestingly dark take on the franchise and would be wonderful to see fully animated.

But yeah. I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't tried to jump on this yet. Zelda is one of their most popular properties, I imagine each full game could make a really nice 50ish episode series.

...Eh, 50 episodes strikes me as a bit too much. I mean, a lot of the earlier games didn't really have all that complex stories, and even the ones that do, like the 3D-games, would probably work better as 26-episode shows... And Majora's Mask would probably work with just 13, because that game was mostly just sidequests, and animating all of those would probably make this hypothetical anime-adaptation extremely boring, as most of them don't really have any effect on the main story at all.

Anyway, yeah, I'd say a Zelda anime could be interesting, if done right. Of course, a lot of things would have to be changed, (I'm sure none of us want several episodes in a row of Link exploring dungeons on his own) but at least some of the games are written well enough that they might work as a TV-series.

I think I'd prefer shorts or something to a full-fledged series. Very stylized ones, at that; a pastel-type movie for Wind Waker, something very drab and painted for Twilight Princess, a more rustic style for the original. Y'know? Maybe have short adaptations of a quest or something - like, say, ten minutes of Link searching for a treasure or going through a dungeon.

I mean, it would be kinda cool to see an entire game animated... but really, what's the point? The games aren't too heavy on story - gameplay is the core. Taking the story of the games without the gameplay is a bit of a gip.

Really, depending on the game, a 50 episode series isn't a stretch. I've thought about it before and it could realistically work, well, for example...OoT, a 13 episode child arc, 24 episode adult medallion gathering arc, devote five or so to sidequests (which could be great given how rich the OoT world was) and then devote the rest of the series to the final arc and you're good to go.

Of course, a few things would need to be added just so you wouldn't always have Link traversing a dungeon on his own with nothing but his monologue and Navi to keep the viewer watching, perhaps expanding the roles of certain characters to have them traveling with Link. I always thought each dungeon in the adult arc could easily be covered in two to three episodes.

Though I do think Majora's Mask could work as a decent 13 episode series, I'd rather see it as an OVA, though purely for personal reasons. It's my favorite game and has scenes I think could stand the have the high quality of an OVA, plus the story moves at a brisk pace, so it wouldn't need to be too long to begin with.

A 26 episode Zelda anime series would be nice, but I wouldn't want it to follow the video game storyline but instead to forge a storyline all it's own. I would want them to give it the standard Ganon vs Hyrule Kingdom over the Tri-Force storyline but I am tired of ocarina's and multi-colored Link's and all that kind of crap, I want a great tale of good vs evil with some epic encounters between Link and Ganon thrown in.

I'm just getting tired of the newer style Zelda games and the stories they tell, I want vintage Zelda storytelling with modern day battles that is not associated and different to the video games of today. If they did create a series based off of the games then let it be off of the older games before they went off the deep end, and yes, they did go off the deep end. Sorry, I guess I just prefer my Zelda games without Link shrinking in size, splitting into multiple colored entities, morphing into animals or playing a sissy flute.

Just sayin'.

Not even if the anime looked like this?

Still don't like it? Well EXCUUUUUUSE ME, Princess!!

Ummm... Ewww... lol

Can't say I support the idea of Zelda being an anime, but I'm not against it either. They'd really have to do something to make me want to watch it.

That'd be interesting, but as others have said, the main problem is how Link doesn't talk.

I think it'd be interesting to see a Mario anime, though.

Hey, that's a very influential anime. Genndy Tartakovsky cites it as a key inspiration in his work. And obviously Nintendo liked it enough to basically copy the style outright. Even many hardcore, old-school, anime-hating animation fans consider it one of the most beautifully animated films ever made.

Upon further thinking... A Mario Bros. anime could potentially be awesome.

And I could see it doing really well in the USA. It could air alongside Pokemon on Cartoon Network (at a decent timeslot) and rack up some ratings.

Eh, that didn't stop him from having a few voiced cameos in Captain N: The Game Master.

A plot-driven Zelda cartoon played straight and done well could be very entertaining and quite possibly print money. There's a substantial fanbase on both sides of the Pacific. I'm actually surprised such a project has never been tried, really.

Jojo's video is cool. The wind waker style would certainly fit what that's doing.

Well actually Link had his own show. The Adventures of Zelda was part of the super Mario Brothers Super Show and had about 13 episodes, and there were also the Zelda CDI games, both of which featured Link talking. However due to the lack of popularity and severe fan backlash of both of those games, I really don't think Nintendo will try to ever do something like that again. Which seems silly IMHO. I really see no reason why Link shouldn't talk (I mean yeah it works with the style of the Zelda games but a show is a different story) but since it's become such a standard convention over the years they won't go with it.

I'll say this until I die most likley, but I feel that there should be a Super Smash Brothers anime or cartoon. Hell if it becomes popular that could easily lead to spinoff of cartoons of Zelda, Mario or even Metriod. A regular Legend of Zelda anime would also be a decent concept, so long as they kept the feeling of the world, even if they didn't do a strict game port adapation. Also thinking about it, there's plenty of legend of Zelda manga that feature Link talking, so I have no idea why people wouldn't want to hear Link talking in a legend of Zelda anime.
