Would you have to see the original 'Wall street' before seeing the new one?

...I know it sounRAB a daft question but I havn't seen 'Wall street 1' (i know the '1' bit isn't in the title but for arguments sake). I was watching the trailer for the 2010 release and it looks so different and far away from the original that it looks a completely new film, I know it's not a re-make (sequel) but it does look like a stand-alone film (if that makes sence).

Plus I love Carey Mulligan!

I would suggest you do as it's going to give you a better idea of who Gordon Gecco is. Wall Street is on tomorrow morning about 11:30 on one of the Sky channels. I'm going to watch it first as a refresher before I see the sequel next week.
