The reason I ask it here is because there are children involved and I wanted a mother's (or father's) opinion on this.
My children’s father and I are no longer a couple. However, we were best friends before we dated and we’re still best friends after dating – we merely realised we loved each other but were no longer in love with each other. We had moved in together when we were dating and we still live together to this day. We just think of it as best friends living together and it works well for our children.
Anyway, I had to explain to someone how he and I were linked. When I told them that we used to date and had two children together then broke up but still live together as friends, needless to say they found this weird. I am fully aware that it is not “normal” but is it so weird for someone to be friends with their ex? I always thought it was good to maintain a good relationship and especially if children are involved. What are your thoughts?
Reading through your answers, I was getting really confused why some of you were talking about us bringing a date home and if there was jealousy. Then I realised that I left out a crucial point - 2 years after we broke up, my ex came out as gay. The only jealousy would be if we went after the same guy! I'm sorry that's confused some of you and I should have mentioned it earlier.
