Would you ever send your troubled teen to one of those "teen camps"?

My husband and I were watching this movie called Boot Camp (starring Mila Kunis, if any of you have ever heard of it). It's the true story of a teen girl who gets sent away to one of those teen boot camps and it turns out that the "boot camp" is more of a "concentration camp". I've heard of places like that where they harm more than help your kids. Even if my teen was getting into trouble and those places were actually good, I still wouldn't send her away for a year for other people to give her the direction that I should be giving her. What do you think?
I don't know...maybe it's just easy for me to say I would never do it because I haven't had to deal with an emotional teenager yet, but I still to me that just doesn't seem right.
 
my cuz was one of those kids his parents just spent more time with him and sent him to a shink and after a while he started to calm down and now he is married with 2 kids
 
If I no longer had control of my kids then yes I would. They have more success story's then failures. What are the other options? If you have already lost them then they will end up dead or in jail most likely anyways.

I would also add that for it to get to that point, the parents are also doing something wrong. They too need to get some help.

Yes. I believe these teen camps can do a lot of wonders for troubled teens. Teens are able to spend more time developing their individual skills and talents. Their peers, instead of gathering in cliques and knocking one another down in a popularity contest, end up more like siblings or colleagues, and begin to appreciate one another for their talents. It's an environment that is conducive to real self-esteem, and more like the real world.
