Would you ever consider stuff like family guy and futurama anime?

My sister's friend said Family Guy is anime because in Japan anime means animation but in my opinion it's the drawing style and Family Guy on Netflix is considered an Adult Animation so even Netflix says Animation. The my friend said anything originating in Japan is Anime and everything else is Anime Influenced Animation.
 
No family guy is not an anime. to me anime has to come from japan and likeu said it's the drawings style. u wouldn't call simpsons an anime.
 
Family Guy is or Simpsons is not an anime. It's so easy to tell just by the art style and the way the characters move/talk. It has to be from Japan to be an anime.
 
Anime may be short for animation but most refer anime as Japanese animation. While I refer cartoons or animation to american animation since most american animation does not follow a story line and just makes one up the next episode usually taking 1 episode to complete that story line.
 
You would confuse a lot of people if you actually called it anime. That would be like going around calling cats "neko," just because it means cat doesn't mean it makes sense to most people.
