Would you discuss this with you friend via email or in person?

I just got back from going gambling with a friend of mine and I was very annoyed. A friend of mine and I asked him to go with us a couple of months ago and he said he wanted to go. This past week he told me that he had to pay for school, so I asked him if he still wanted to go and he said yes. This morning I asked him if he really wanted to go and he said yes. So, we went. The whole way there he barely talked to me or my friend unless we forced him to talk to us by asking him questions, and the whole way he was on his phone texting or writing people on facebook. However, he tried to block it so we couldn't see what he was doing. The whole time we were in the casino he was texting on his phone, would sit standing with his hands crossed and acted like he didn't want to be there. I asked him what was up and he just said he didn't have a lot of money, so again I was thinking, why did you come then? Then, what really got me is that on the way home he acted like he was really tired and didn't talk at all to me or my friend even when we tried to talk to him. Again, though he was texting and on facebook the whole time. Then, to top it off, I get home and I see what he was posting on facebook and it looks like he was in a great mood talking to other friends about different things while the whole time he ignored me and my friend. So, my question, would you let this go and think he is an ass or confront him about it to see what's up?? And, would you do it in person or via email?? I just feel like it would be easier in email because I think he is more likely to write me back because he has proven he doesn't want to speak to me.
