one with promotability? I'm sort of at a wall on something. I'm a 29 year old guy who is doing very good for himself. I manage a large chunk of the Southeastern US for a Fortune 500 company (from an office in my home), set my own hours (as the senior manager in my territory), and earn north of $150K a year. If I want to go out on my boat at 2 p.m. on Monday I can... If I pull an all nighter with friends on Wednesday and don't feel like waking up early on Thursday nobody bothers me about it. I have total freedom to set my schedules, meetings, and life as long as my folks are happy and the work gets done but, unfortunately, this position is at the top for being able to maintain this lifestyle. I can stay here forever or move up immediately. Taking a promotion requires going to a corporate office, waking up at 6 a.m. and working until 6 p.m. at their office, and much more scrutiny in terms of people knowing what you are doing. The upside is that from here promotions happen quickly. I have friends who make 3 times ($450K+) what I make. They just have a lot more professional and relationship stress (due to time away from home).

Which path would you take? Comfort and $150K or stress with a fast track up the ladder?
