Life

Bottled up
In tight quarters
Held captive by time,
Space, weather
And connections,
You are walled in
By mind numbing
Monotony; confined
To minutia of a little world.
It helps to be prepared.
Imagination and creativity
Ease the hours of humdrum,
The steady drone of engines,
Those unforeseen delays;
Rough bumps along the way.
Scrunched up humanity
Makes for adventure;
Each day’s schedule
Presents its own challenges.
How and when you arrive
Depends on
Your durability,
Where you’re headed,
Your confidence
In the captain to get you there;
Little else is within your control.
Matters little I suppose
If you’re on the ground
Or in the air,
Life is still just life
Anywhere.

The facts of life well understood. A great poem, indeed.

Willingness to live in this insipid world is the confidence:
"Your confidence
IS the captain to get you there;"

And one has to be resilient
"Depends on
Your durability,"

And a reconciliation with the life we are in:
"Life is still just life
Anywhere."
