Would You Call This PND?

I know many of us have issues with reflux and PND, including me. One of my worst symptoms of LPR. I have the feeling of my right (always the right side) of my sinus being plugged up bad and this causes me to try and sniff hard to gag something out. I have it bad this morn and when I finally got a good breath to do my "big sniff and cough out mucus" a junk of thick green matter comes out of my throat. Not first time this has happened. Since it's not from my nose, would this be considered PND? I haven't found anything to really get rid of the pressure in my sinus but I do notice when I cough, I often cough up thick white matter. This is usually after I have eaten but happens a lot when I first get up and do saline rinse. Think it's undigested food from night before as I don't ever feel it comes directly from my nose. Even the sniff, sniff I do every day is more like drainage from my throat. As many of you know, I've gone the asthma/allergy route and with temps being so cold now you wouldn't think there would be anything I could be allergic to this time of the year. Also, I got a good report at my last allergy testing.

Do any of you actually get something up during a coughing spell and where do you feel like it is coming from? I'm confused if this is PND from LPR or maybe another source like allergy. I do feel better once I hack this crud up and can breath somewhat better but it doesn't make it go away completely.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

HI Char! I understand how you feel. I don't know where my gunk comes from. Here it is almost -14 below outside today. Surely it has killed all the bad allergens outside. But I still have indoor allergies. I wake up congested most every morning. I never know where the gunk is coming from. Up or down? Or where? I am just beginning to wondering if my food allergies or more complex. I may do further testing on that.

It sounRAB like you may have food allergies. It's so tricky to get it all figured out. I think it is a day by day thing. Everyday I feel different. I just try to keep them clear. Hang in there!

If you sleep on your right side, perhaps the reflux is affecting it more? I have a productive/sometimes salty cough after eating/drinking and reflux, which I'm still trying to figure out. Any ideas?

You know I do sleep on my right side and know it's the left side we should be sleeping on (right?) and I do try but I'm always glad just to get some sleep that I don't care what side it's on! But, I have this 24/7 and seem "worse" sitting up than lying down. I have read where this is a classic LPR symptom and I know I shouldn't eat late at night but I'm bad about it. I do wonder about food allergies and in fact....allergic to both beef and chicken! I'm not a big meat eater since I find it so hard to swallow, but it doesn't seem to make much difference in what I eat. Several people have mentioned their allergy problems and even though there's not anything here it could be from mountain ceder being blown in. That's what my report says anyway. I'm so lost that I'm not sure of anything! I am getting more yellow goop up than usual though so could very well be sinus infection. Just hate to go to the Dr again and don't like taking antibiotics so much but isn't that the only way I will be able to get over it? I don't feel bad? Other than headache from all the hacking and being sore all over.

Thanks for your replies and open for more discussion. What's the old saying? Misery loves company.

Have you been diagnosed with reflux and taking meRAB? Not to say that any helped me but seems some have better results. I cough after any and everything I eat no matter what but don't have this goop coming from nowhere all the time. I'm leaning toward sinus infection, which I still feel is caused by the darn GERD/LPR!!! I've decided that this would be classified as PND.....just can't figure out the reason for it. Soooo frustrating.

GERD/LPR does seem to affect the sinuses a lot...and I do think the PPIs help some with this. Also I agree that it is FRUSTRATING not to understand where the productive stuff is coming from. Often it seems to form in the throat/upper chest area after eating/drinking for me.
