Would you buy a GM car right now, given they are heading for bankruptcy...?

No. Blame the government, the laws that have been placed on car makers is the reason they are in trouble. Washington has been building cars for many years. They should leave the car business to the car makers.

This is a good reason for Washington to leave everything alone i.e. Health care. It will be a disaster if it totally comes under the Government.

I would GM makes some great cars but their past performance has kept many people from finding that out. The first people I'd blame for GM's situation would be GM itself, GM management consistently made bad decisions about the future needs and wants of car buyers as well as letting bean counters design cars instead of car guys and the vehicles they did build that people wanted were supposed to last forever, ooops!.
The new Malibu is a fantastic car and they have many more just as good so I hope I see a lot more. GM needs to reinvent itself from top to bottom, I hope they can, they squandered much of the brand loyalty people had I hope they can get it back.

No. GM's biggest problem is they have too many darn models of vehicles. Have you ever checked out just how many models they happen to have? That is a lot of parts and facility's to contend with.
