Would yoga help with martial arts?

My Sensei was saying that some of the exercises in yoga help to strengthen the core muscles, the ones around the abs and lower back muscles. It helps with flexibility, balance and there are some other good strengthening exercises which help with some techniques. We have done some exercises in class.

Im just wondering if anyone has done yoga to improve their martial art. Have you done it and did it help with your martial art? Im just wondering if its worth spending a bit of money.

I posted a similar question in the Diet and Fitness section, but I didn't get a lot of answers. I thought this section would also be better because it's from the MA section.
 
Martial arts requires many different things strength speed and flexibility so yeah yoga will definitely help in martial arts which has many factors.
