Would u use a hybrid phone on cricket.

Hey Cot.
I don't think these phones have a CDMA 800 radio.
I looked up the specs and all of them: ic402, ic502, ic602 and ic902 are all single band CDMA + IDEN.
I don't think you can seem edit them because the hardware might not be there for the 800 radio.

I have a used 902 in my shop. VERY nice phone.

The SIM is married to the phone at activation, it does not require unlocking. However, and used phone would not work, because it would need to be partnered with the sim at activation. If you insert any other sim, Nextel or Boost, it will not turn on the radio, just like a subsidy lock on a GSM phone.

On any Powersource/Hybrid device the nextel network is ONLY used for Direct Connect. Not voice, Data, or SMS, even in a non sprint area.

So you have two obstacles to over come.

Sim provisioning, and Data provisioning. As we all know, sprint phones are very hard to provision for Data, let alone figuring out how it locks the phone to one ICCID.

Boost phones are STILL locked, and will ALWAYS be locked.

You can activate a NEW nextel sim in any boost phone, as lone as its an unprovisioned SIM. However the phone will relock itself in time, I have experienced this over and over again.

You have to unlock them. There are free programs out there, and a pay server that works flawlessly at IdengoRAB.org. I paid $75 for 50 unlock credits from them, not a bad deal.

I can't say whether it is or isn't. I always figured it was lacking something in hardware for the 850MHz band as well, but I had a friend tell me that flashing it with something like a v365 flash enabled the 850MHz band in the hybriRAB and that in fact he hardware was there, you just had to change the software to be able to use it.

I have no proof of this being true, just what I was told by a friend.

The hybriRAB having 850MHz CDMA would make them soo much more useful.

Figured out the sim lock. Put in the boost sim card and it'll come up saying invalid sim, dial ##(your msl)# and "edit" your information (re-enter your msid again) so it reregisters the sim to the phone.

I have tried to activate an ic502 with an old white Nextel sim card with no luck. error "in progress", "wrong sim", etc...

Do you have to activate a new boost account and marry the new sim to the phone to use with Cricket?

wish i could be of more help here. for drivers, we use the cellebrite and icss drivers and can connect to the Powersource phones fine. i still have a few i need to get to steve so he can experiment. i am a sprint/nextel dealer, so if there is any way i can help getting codes of whatnot let me know and ill look into it
