TITLE: The Darkwheel Saga - Book 01 - Seer Seekers
PLOT:
A lethal plague ravages the land ending the life of man and beast alike as if the very Angel of Death himself stalks the land of Eldenaria.
Long forgotten beings of ancient magic - both good and evil - are revealing themselves to the public after a thousand years of hiding.
Worse yet, as far as the farmers are concerned, titanic-sized crop circles are dotting fields at an alarming rate, all of which are an inky black in color.
Whoever enters the crop circle dies.
Amid the chaos that ensues, a young man named Quentin Striker is chosen by his village elders to seek out the legendary prophet - Soril the Seer - and ask for his help to end the apocalypse that sweeps across the world like a rapid wild fire. So it is that he embarks on a perilous quest to the danger-filled territory of the north known as Nors Din.
Along the way to the Seer's tower in the far north, he is joined by a group of companions who all turn out to be imperative to the quest: Sir George Ferrell, a knight sent on the same quest by the queen; Leafright, an elf destined with the same goal; Dwindle, a dwarf also entrusted with the same purpose; and last but not least he is accompanied by a mysterious, secretive woman named Jocelyn who may just be the most important one out of them all.
If things aren't bad enough as it is, the goblins who were supposed to have been in hibernation as is the custom for the season wake up extra early...
... and they're famished!

Well, that's about it. What do you think? Would the story intrigue you? Or has the concept been used far too many times? The companions only find out what to do at the end of the first book and set out to do just that at book 2. I plan on making this a trilogy. Do you think it would be a big hit? Or would everyone just sigh and say, "Not another fantasy novel!" Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Quentin Striker and Jocelyn (amongst others) are two of the standard names that I use for the main characters of my story. As you may have guessed, there will be some romance between the two. However, another young woman will join the group causing some tension between the trio. Also, please go easy on me as this is just a rough draft.
