I was thinking if I allowed my cat to go outside over night it might cure him from wanting to run outside. He doesn't do it often, but maybe 1 or 2 times a month he tries to sneak outside when the front door is open. I was thinking since we have over 3 feet of snow on the ground, he might learn his lesson and decide to not want to go outside anymore. He isn't de-clawed but he is neutered. Is this a good idea?

With my cat, we let him outside [ in summer ] and leave the basement door open a bit so he can come back in. In the winter your cat will or will not enjoy going out depending on his personality. He will think he cant go outside, but soon he will forget. If you let your car go outside, he will always try to get out.

Once we let our cat out, she didn't want to come back in! It won't really help.

it might help, but he might also get hurt by something, run off,get stolen, hit by a car, anything really, unless you are going to crate him and check that he is ok alot,I dont advise it.
