Just ideas I haven't come to writing it yet. It was meant for schoolwork (I'm 15) but I wanted to see if it was publish-worthy. The story starts in a fictional country much like England. The whole nation is in the grip of paranoia due to a widespread increase in national murders being carried out by groups of sadistic neo-Punks, who are impossible to publicly convict because of support from gangland crimelords in return for occasional assassinated enemies. 2 lovers, Bonnie and Marcus, live in a particularly affected area. Deciding they can't spend their whole lives worrying about an attack, like the rest of their community do, they save up some money and plan to hit a large nightclub while Marcus' parents are away. Marcus leaves his little brother, Napoleon, home alone for the night and gives him a switchblade to protect the house from any of attackers. All goes well at first. Throughout the night the pair both drink and consume drugs, lost in a fog of smoke, ravelights and people in the same hedonistic, drugged up state they are in. They leave after several hours, and on the train ride back home Bonnnie has an epiphany, deciding she will spend the next few decades sacrficing her day to provide herself with a wild nightlife. They arrive back at Marcus' house to find the door broken down and various valuables missing. Marcus is devastated to find his little brother dead in his bed clutching a suicide note, explaining that a group of Neo-Punks struck their street that night. Napoleon hid until their house was struck, and too terrified to fight the invaders he hid in bed. As the door was struck down he chose to kill himself rather than be tortured to death. Because there was little time, he was forced to stab himself in the throat with the switchblade. The fact Napoleon is only 11 years old and still "a baby" in his parents' eyes, his death is even more shocking. Marcus never recovers from the incident while Bonnie leaves him to continue her hedonistic lifestyle. Marcus decides to pick himself up off the floor after a while, then decides he wants to devote the rest of his life hunting down and killing the Punks who were responsible for his brothers death. He never forgives Bonnie for leaving him when Napoleon dies, and his parents resent him and his choice to have left Napoleon alone on that night. Bonnie and Marcus reunite a few years later in a cafe. Bonnie has thrown her life to the winds and spends her nights dancing and drinking away to her vices. Marcus has become solemn and quiet, and seems almost impervious to emotional pain and distress. Bonnie on the other hand is constantly having emotional breakdowns due to hasty relationships and isolation from real human values. When Bonnie slaps him for being so monotonous, he simply replies: "will anything you smoke, drink or have sex with improve anything about your life?" before leaving promptly. Marcus retains his vow to kill each of the Punks, but cannot find who or where they are.Marcus manages to remove the negativity from his life and join the army. He is adept with weaponry, and his resilience in training and combat pay off and is recruited as a bodyguard for a business CEO. He is introduced to his employer, whom Marcus recognises (from footage he filmed of his house on the night of Napoleon's death) as one of the Punks, who has now become prosperous and wealthy. His heart bursting with hatred, Marcus knocks all the other guards at the Punk's residence into unconsciousness on his first night of the job. He corners the Punk in his living room and puts a gun to his head, before showing him a photo of Napoleon. He is on the verge of pulling the trigger when he hears a terrified whimper, and looks up to see the Punk's wife clutching his children as they hide under the table. One cries out through tears "Don't kill my Daddy". Marcus is touched and finds himself unable to kill a father. He storms out of the house and disappears from the military. In the final scene Marcus is sitting in another cafe with a man quizzing him about the events. When asked why he didnt kill one of the people responsible for Napoleon's death, he replies that he will prove nothing and improve nothing, only confirm mankind's vengeful nature.
