as a former painting contractor and interior decorator, this is doable. First make sure the wall in question is square, and plumb. If you don't understand the plumb part, ask your dad if he has a plumb bob. Measure the entire wall, marking off the width of the strips you want, then roll the wall in white. The next day, starting taping the wall, using 1" blue painters tape. Roll the pink on with a 3" roller with 1/4" nap on it. Roll off the excess each time you reoll the roller in the tray and before applying to the wall. When the wall is done, wait an hour and start removing the tape, pulling straight off from the wall.
