Would the Toyota Prius be a good first car?

Since the Prius first came out I've been thinking about it as my first car. I'm only 14 1/2, but I need to decide on what's a good car for me fairly quickly. I came across a used Prius for $14,993 in my area. It has 54,000 miles and is a 2005 model. Is this okay, or would it be better to spend more money to get a newer one? If you own a Prius or know about it, is it a good car? Have you had any problems with it? And just what do you think about it? I know they are pretty expensive cars for the 2009 and 2010 models, but the 2005 one I found seems perfect! (And it's in Sandy Beach Metallic color- my favorite!) Thanks! :)

its up to you...its a good car but man that price is still rather high....i bought my 92 civic for $2500....and it gives me roughly 40-49 mpg....which is as good or even better then most hybrids....and the thing is that i really like to push my car....

Personally, I would not buy a used Prius. I have heard that the expense of replacing the battery pack is quite high. You should look into this before buying used.
