I'm sure we all know that the Native Americans weren't particularly advanced people — their technology was quite lacking in comparison to that of Europe/Asia. While Egyptians had been building huge cities, and Europeans were constructing industries and forging armies and waging massive wars, much is unknown about the Native Americans past.
Now, take a look at Europe's technology and weapons, compared to that of the natives. Guns, ships, huge stone walls and cannons and the like. None of this existed in North America.
How long do you suppose it would take for the Native Americans to catch up to the Europeans in this sense? Would they ever catch up? Their culture was different, of course. While the Europeans were set on consuming all the resources they could find, the natives seemed to prize conservation.
Given a thousand years, do you think Native American culture and technology would change significantly, had there been no invasion?
In 4000 years, empires would rise and fall. Yet What of Native American history? There are no such monuments of bygone eras.
