Carter signed the bailout law before reagan was elected.

Reagan did not take office until January 1981.

Yes, in fact he did, Chrysler, Ford and GM all got boosts from Reagan.

Well, I think that he might have actually done it, but any president worth his salt would have. It's annoying, but some corporations really are too big to fail. The effect of Chrysler going out of business on the US economy would be absolutely catastrophic.
