Would making my own business out of photography and makeup be a good idea?

I have always loved taking pictures of things and I think im pretty good at it, and I've also liked makeup. I love doing other peoples makeup and my own. So would it be a good idea to open my own photography business that does wedding or senior pictures or pretty much any pictures that i could do my customers makeup before I take their picture?
the bad thing is that i live in a really small town and there isnt very many possibilities, and i cant really afford college.
I know its not easy running your own business and i never really thought of family portraits either. thanks for the ideas and confidence so far.
 
Sounds like a good idea, but make a more advanced business plan before going ahead with it. You'll also want to work out pricing etc.
But people pay a lot to get family portraits taken or wedding photos, and even more if you edit them or do their makeup, or both. You could also freelance MUA for other photographers that don't know how to do their own makeup. Advertise yourself too, maybe start with a small portfolio and see where it takes you.
