would it have helped if Americans knew that Iraq was the cradle of civilization?

I'm an American and have always known that civilization began in Mesopotamia 10,000 years ago in what is now called Iraq.because of the war would it have been help-full if many of us Americans knew more about the Shiites, Sunnis,Arabs,Kurds and Armenians and the land and politics they fight over and it's ancient history while fighting this war
