Marching band at the high school I will be attending next year is 4 years, one semester per year.
There is also a 3-day band camp in August.
It's pretty fun from experiences I've heard from my two older brothers, and I can already tell.
Lots of events including football games, a few parades, and performing in the district's middle schools.
However, I'm conflicted seeing as I'm not too good at my instrument (clarinet) considering I don't really take private lessons.
Also, I'm worried that I won't be able to perform well during events or march certain distances.
I would love to take marching band with my friends for fun (which is pretty good considering it fills up the 2-year P.E. requirement) though I'm worried I won't do well music-wise and such.
I feel it may be too difficult for me to keep up, especially since I'd have to wake up early and do back-to-back events at times.
Any suggestions (that don't include taking private lessons)?
Or should I just take regular P.E. for two years, having the other two years to do whatever I wish?
(I don't want to be in the wind ensemble/symphonic band because it would require a zero period class.)
I need answers as soon as possible.
Thank you!
