I'm black and I love the name Akemi (ah-key-me). It's Japanese. I want to name my future child that if the father agrees.
1. Do you like it?
2. Is it weird for a black person to have a Japanese name?
silly fart: I saw it in a book and looked it up on the internet.
lol I think I wrote the first part of the pronunciation wrong. It's ( uh-key-me). Well I pronounce it that way.

No, it's pretty. Not everyone would know right off that's Japanese. To be honest it's sounds kinda black American.
